Epilogue gathers a year of large-format oils made in the long grief and long hope of watching wild animals hold their ground. Painted mostly at life size, worked from field studies and from memory, the pieces try to sit with the animals rather than in front of them. Oils on canvas and linen, some of them six feet across, made in a quiet studio where the light is kept low so the work can stay honest.
